According to Cult of Mac Beijing time in July 11th, Foxconn set up a new company in Silicon Valley, the industrial artificial intelligence system (Industrial AI System), to develop artificial intelligence technology to automate factory production. The new company was set up at a time when Foxconn sought to cope with the global slowdown in smartphone sales, rising labor wages, and people's reluctant to engage in manufacturing. Foxconn manufactures iPhone and iPad for apple, and ranks among the largest apple foundries.

At a meeting held at Stanford University on Friday, Foxconn founder Terry Gou introduced his partner in industrial artificial intelligence system and Professor Jay Lee (Jay Lee), a professor of industrial engineering at University of Cincinnati.
Terry Gou plans to recruit about 100 engineers and deep learning experts for industrial AI systems. Foxconn plans to invest $10 billion to build a production plant in Wisconsin and employ hundreds of employees. As Terry Gou is pushing the use of automation to improve production efficiency, it remains to be seen whether Foxconn can provide a large number of jobs in a plant built in Wisconsin.

According to Silicon Valley Business Journal, Foxconn has more than 1 million employees, of whom 600 thousand are in Taiwan, China. Media reports said that Terry Gou's meeting at the Stanford University was only open to 100 people, including artificial intelligence researchers, Stanford University students and technology entrepreneurs. In his opening speech, Terry Gou said, "bay area has always been a high-tech innovation center and is the best base for AI and data science in the United States." There are 1000 employees in the Foxconn automation department.
